The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Olumide Akpata, has constituted another Caretaker Committee for the NBA Ikeja Branch. The tenure of the former Caretaker Committee expired on Wednesday 30th of September, 2020
In a statement made available to Lagos Times, the NBA’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr Rapulu Nduka, said Akpata Appointed Seni Adio (SAN) as Chairman and Paul Ananaba, SAN as Co-Chairman.
The full statement reads: The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Olumide Akpata has set up a new Caretaker Committee for the NBA Ikeja Branch to manage the affairs of the Branch in the interim and organise Branch election, in accordance with Article 11 of the Uniform Bye-Laws for Branches contained in the 3rd Schedule to the NBA Constitution 2015 (as amended).
This follows the expiration of the tenure of the 3-member Caretaker Committe set up by the Paul Usoro, SAN-administration and accords with the promise made by the NBA President at the Stakeholders Meeting which he held with the outgone Caretaker Committee and other members of the Branch on 28 September 2020.
The new Caretaker Committee comprises of the following persons:
Seni Adio, SAN – Chairman
Paul Ananaba, SAN – Co-Chairman
Andy Akporugo Jnr
Eyimofe Jemerigbe – Secretary
The NBA President expresses his profound gratitude to the outgone Caretaker Committee for managing the affairs of the Branch, from 30 June 2020 – 30 September 2020, to the best of their ability and appreciates their efforts despite the various difficulties they encountered which ultimately made the holding of Branch elections impracticable.
The tenure of the current Caretaker Committee shall be three months, commencing on 1 October 2020 and ending 31 December 2020, within which time the Committee will be expected to conduct election into the various Branch offices.
The NBA President calls on all members of the Association and especially members of NBA Ikeja Branch to cooperate with the Caretaker Committee to ensure the smooth execution of this critical assignment and an amicable resolution of all outstanding issues.
