The Republic of The Gambia formally joined the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) on 27th February, 2009 when the Honourable Mousa Gibril Balla Gaye, Secretary of State for Finance and Economic Affairs of The Gambia, submitted an Instrument of Accession adhering to the terms of the Agreement for the establishment of the Africa Finance Corporation dated 28th May, 2007.

Welcoming The Gambia’s membership of the Pan-African investment bank and development finance institution, the AFC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Andrew Alli, expressed the AFC’s highest appreciation to The Gambia for acceding to membership of the Corporation, and described the country’s membership as a watershed in AFC’s efforts to become the World’s leading investment bank for Africa, by driving the fast tracking of Africa’s economic development through proactively creating, acquiring and managing infrastructure, industrial and financial assets.

The Gambia joins other African countries, notably Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Sierra-Leone as members of the AFC.
